Turkey expects more EU actors in energy exchange market

Construction works in Berat, Albania, December 2016 Efforts are being made to expand Turkey's energy exchange market and attract more actors from European countries, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Donmez announced a few days ago.

The Minister said that gas pipeline projects such as the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project (TANAP) and TurkStream would not only ensure Turkey's security and diversity of supply, but would also play a major role in covering Europe.

TANAP, which transports Azerbaijani gas to Turkey, is the longest part of the southern gas corridor to be connected to Europe via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). TAP will transport 10 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas per year to Southeast Europe. TAP, the European part of the corridor, is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by 2020.
